McKada

McKada is a dynamic Jamaican singer and songwriter who explores serious issues with a
spiritual backbone on a strong beat. Distinguished by her powerful, deep, and rich voice, she
captivates audiences with her 'vibesy' energy and seductive, feisty performances imbued
with her connection to the Creator.

Her passion for music was evident from an early age—at
merely 9 years old, she wrote her first song, recalling the lyrics “With Christ you can do it, he will lead the way.” This love for music grew as she listened to artists like Papa San and Lieutenant Stitchie on Love 101 FM, and discovered one of her all-time favourites, Lauryn Hill. Inspired by their sultry tones and lyrical flow, she continued to create and perform music, even in challenging times.

At 17, she released her debut single, "Crucified," marking the start of her professional singing career. Since then, McKada's music has evolved, reflecting her increased social consciousness and growth, so her lyrics have become bolder, encompassing a deeper understanding and respect for the Creator, life, and the human experience.

Her songs primarily deal with faith, justice, and love, and she describes them as “sweet and spicy”— uplifting yet hard-hitting when addressing social issues. Her single “Love Is Essential” embodies these themes, acting as a voice for those in need of advocacy and reflecting her
own experiences and values.

For McKada, music is a beautiful connection to the Creator and our spirits, capable of healing and bringing people together. The greatest compliment she has received was from a listener who found healing in her song "Love is Essential," epitomising her desire to make a meaningful impact. She is currently working on several exciting projects, including her upcoming single “Psst,” a witty and engaging song about catcalling, while preparing to release an EP and an album.

Throughout her career, she has had several experiences that shaped her path as an artist. In 2019, she was a Top 10 finalist in the national JCDC Festival Song Competition, which provided her with practical insights into the music industry and allowed her to explore her stage personality. Other memorable  accomplishments include performing with reggae artist Warrior King, hearing her music on the radio for the first time with her family, and seeing herself on a billboard.

McKada has ambitious goals of performing on platforms like Tiny Desk, Coachella, and Rebel Salute, while achieving over a million streams of her music globally. Writing to address societal issues, she encourages understanding and inspires people to find beauty and joy in the human experience. She also enjoys starting discussions and connecting with
her audience both online and in person and hopes to make a major contribution to Jamaica's cultural environment, adding to its rich tapestry of music as she learns more about her roots.
She aims to leave a legacy that incites conversations, stirs emotions, and promotes healing.
